LANCEFIELD & ROMSEY COMMUNITY BANKS

HALF A MILLION GOOD REASONS TO THANK YOUR BANK

The Lancefield and Romsey Community Bank branches have put more than $500,000 back to the community over the past 11 years, following the distribution of a further $65,000 in grants and sponsorships today.

Bank Chair Tim McCarthy said the distribution to 49 local clubs and organisations was an excellent example of how our Bank kept profits in the community.

Cheques for the grants and sponsorships were handed over to the local clubs and organisations at a gala Community Investment Program event at the Lancefield Bowling Club today.

And to emphasise the “rolled gold” contribution our Bank branches make to the community, dual Olympian Collis Birmingham was on hand to help with the presentations.

Distance runner Collis, not long back from the London Olympics, began his career with the Lancefield/Romsey Little Athletics Centre in 1988/89.

“Our grants and sponsorships handed out today include $1000 for the Lancefield/Romsey Little Athletics Centre,” Mr McCarthy said.

“Financial encouragement is of vital importance to local clubs and organisations, and our Bank is happy to be involved.

“Perhaps our grant today may held the Little Aths Centre to uncover and encourage the next Collis Birmingham to compete for Australia.”

Mr McCarthy said the Lancefield and Romsey Community Bank branches of Bendigo Bank were operated on behalf of around 500 local residents and businesses, who put up their own money to become shareholders.

“Our two branches today provide full banking services in Romsey and Lancefield – open from 9am to 5pm week days, open during lunch hour and open on Saturday mornings,” he said.

“The banking service alone is a landmark contribution to the prosperity of our district, yet it is the extra step we take that sets our Bank apart. Unlike any other business, our Bank disperses its profits in a truly remarkable way to enhance our lives here in Lancefield and Romsey.”
