ROMSEY BUSINESS MEETING and DRINKS Friday 1st March 2019

Dear Valued Romsey Business

You may have already received it last week, but I write to draw your attention again to the email below from Leanne Davey and the attached flyer regarding the Romsey Business Catch Up to be held THIS FRIDAY 1st March 2019 between 4pm and 6pm at the Community Hub. This is an initiative driven by Romsey Region Business and Tourism Association (RRBATA), Romsey businesses and Council’s Economic Development and Tourism Unit to have a discussion ahead of a marketing campaign aimed to increase support of local traders and get more foot traffic and business through your front door!

We want your input ahead of the proposed marketing campaign so, even if you can spare only a few minutes, please drop in and contribute your ideas to the conversation.

Advocacy for Romsey’s business community and the visitor economy of the region is a core objective of RRBATA. As such, we support of and grateful for Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s backing of this marketing plan initiative.

If you have any queries ahead of Friday, please contact either Leanne (ldavey@mrsc.vic.gov.au, 54219617) or me (0412 349 849) to chat further about this important campaign.

For catering purposes, please RSVP to Leanne as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Jenny Stillman
President

HAVE YOUR SAY: Draft Macedon Ranges Visitor Economy Strategy

Please see the invitation below from Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC) to provide feedback on the Draft Macedon Ranges Visitor Economy Strategy (mrsc.vic.gov.au/yoursay). It will provide a very important road map re strategy and vision relating to our visitor economy across the Shire for a number of years.

RRBATA was an invited participant in MRSC’s Visitor Economy Reference Group which provided input to this document.

The visitor economy impacts on all businesses not just the obvious “tourist-focused” ones, as well as communities in general. Although the document may look a little daunting re length (there are lots of photos and graphics), it is important that businesses and community members are comfortable with it. So, please consider reading and providing your feedback.

CLOSING DATE for submissions is Monday 11th February 2019.

Kind regards

Jenny Stillman

ROMSEY RAG 15th January 2019

Romsey Region Business and Tourism Association (RRBATA) UPDATE

Christmas In Romsey (CIR) 2018

Bendigo Bank Christmas In Romsey (CIR) 2018, organized and run by RRBATA’s Arts Culture Events (ACE) working group, was a great success. With wonderful support from Romsey region businesses and a significant Macedon Ranges Shire Council grant, the festival was even bigger than the previous year with 75 Main Street trees and the addition of a launch event, “Light Night”. The Main Street Christmas trees even drew coverage from ABC radio Bendigo. Whilst a wonderful group of volunteers assisted with implementation of various elements in CIR 2018, CIR 2019 needs pledges of community help to be sustainable. As such, ACE is already looking for volunteers to assist with CIR 2019. For further details, please see the CIR 2018 article in this edition of the Rag.

CIR Survey

ACE working group needs your input to ensure CIR 2019 is even bigger than better than 2018. Please take a few minutes to complete the online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8DDT99G BEFORE 13th February 2019.

Romsey Streetscape Project Rollout Update

The long awaited Main Street lighting works are expected to be completed in February. Heritage lamps and feature illuminations (including Mechanics Institute, former Commercial Bank/Shire of Romsey hub building, fountain illumination enhancement) will be completed in February. Development of the garden seating area adjacent to the Hub will also be undertaken.

Clean Up Romsey Day 2019

Clean Up Romsey Day will be held on Sunday 17th March 2019 between 9am and 11am. If you can spare some time, come along and help fellow community members enhance our town’s tidiness. Clean Up Romsey day is an initiative of RRBATA’s Town Pride working group. Stay tuned to the next edition of the Romsey Rag and RRBATA Facebook for more information.

LABOUR GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES FUNDING PLEDGE TO ROMSEY ECOTHERAPY PARK

MEDIA RELEASE Thursday 18th October, 2018
LABOUR GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES FUNDING PLEDGE TO ROMSEY ECOTHERAPY PARK

Romsey Ecotherapy Park Inc (REP) committee members were delighted with this morning’s announcement in Romsey of the Andrews’ Labour Government’s funding pledge of $718,000 towards further implementation of the Romsey Ecotherapy Park.

This commitment compliments the $80,000 grant pledged in 2017 by the Lancefield and Romsey Community bank branches of the Bendigo bank towards the Sensory Therapeutic Space. Minister for Regional Development, Jaala Pulford, made the announcement on site at Romsey Ecotherapy Park flanked by State MLA for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas.

Macedon Ranges Shire Council was represented by CEO Margot Stork, Karen Stevens (Director Community Wellbeing), Rod Clough (Manager Recreation and Sport), East Ward Councillors Natasha Gayfer, Bill West and Henry Bleeck.

REP President, Ms. Raelene Mottram said, “Romsey Ecotherapy Park Inc committee members are absolutely thrilled with this funding promise, albeit contingent on election outcome. This has come hot on the heels of the Pick My Project success 2 weeks ago which saw $200,000 secured for the Climbing Forest installation early next year. With the Park’s momentum truly rolling along, Romsey Ecotherapy Park Inc is now undertaking a public campaign to seek corporate and philanthropic support to expediently facilitate this regionally significant health and wellbeing resource’s completion.”

Ms. Mottram also acknowledged the support of Macedon Ranges Shire Council and the founding members’ of the Park’s committee which was formed (initially as “Greater Romsey All Abilities Park Inc) almost 10 years ago. “The germination of an idea, its development and the subsequent commitment to the Park vision is a wonderful demonstration of persistence and resilience driven by vision.”
