Lancefield Romsey Lions Club

The Lancefield Romsey Lions had their Change Over Dinner last month, which was held at the
Lancefield Golf Club to see the new President Lion Ged McLaughlin come into his new position along with his officers for the coming year, including 1st Vice President Max McDonald, 2nd Vice President Ken Colson, Secretary Ken Colson and Treasurer Craig Jones.

Over 40 guests were entertained by MC Geoff Neil which included their District Governor Jill Qualtrough, Lions members from Broadford, Riddells Creek, Broadmeadows & Bendigo, their own past members, as well as Cr Henry McLaughlin, Cr Joan Donovan and members
from our local Rotary Club.

The out going President, Julie Starec reported on her past year, thanking all the club for their support & highlighted the new achievements made in this period including, giving over $1500 to the Redesdale Fencing appeal for fire affected locals, entering their first team in the Relay For Life raising approx. $1000 for cancer, starting an Adopt a Roadside Cleanup group through
Keep Australia Beautiful to look after 5kms of roadside south of Romsey, & becoming Santa’s helpers through receiving letters & making sure he replies to the children through the Lancefield Post Office. Also mentioned were their ongoing contributions to providing Community Awards to students of $100 each in Lancefield, Romsey and Clarkefield Primary Schools, & the
provisions for Operation Teddy Bear as these teddy bears go the Police, CFA & Ambulance Stations for children who need comfort in all sorts of circumstances.

The Romsey Market was also held throughout the year. The club also received a $1000 donation from the Bendigo Bank that went towards building a shed for the Elderly Citizen Units in Lancefield.
The night also saw a new member, Brian Knight of Romsey, installed into the club by the District Governor Jill Qualtrough & the sponsoring Lion, Julie Starec. There were presentations made, with many door & raffle prizes making it a great night to be enjoyed by all who attended.
